Kitesurfing in Cape Verde… The question we always get is: which is the best of Cape Verde islands for kitesurfing? The answer depends on your preference because the differences between the Cabo Verde islands are huge. Sal and Boa Vista for your holidays are more comfortable islands set up to receive many tourists to enjoy a sun and beach type of holiday. They are a bit easier to reach because there is more direct flights specially flying to Sal. As a kitesurf destinations these two islands are more suitable to learn to kitesurf and for intermediate riders.
Sao Vicente and Santo Antao on the other hand are for adventurous tourist looking for authenticity, local culture, stunning landscapes in islands which are not much discovered but can offer a lot. These two islands are for advance kitesurfers preferably wanting to ride waves.
The wind in Cape Verde blows from mid December until June. On a typical day the wind is 16 knots, blowing all day from the North-East or North-North-East. On the rare occasion the wind does not blow (less than 10% of time), the windless days are limited to 3-4 days in a row. The vast majority of kitesurfers enjoy good kitesurf sessions during their holidays in Cape Verde.
